'Fischerkirche' in Ferch

The 'Fischerkirche' fishermen’s church in the half-timbered style was built in the 17th century as a Märkische preacher’s church and is now a protected monument. It is a uniquely designed church building of its kind. The interior fittings, such as the altar, baptism angel, gallery and pews, date from when the church was built. The special feature of the church, characterised by its name as a fishermen’s church, is the wooden ceiling, which is barrel vaulted and shaped like an upturned boat. The ceiling painting depicts clouds over Schwielowsee as seen by the fishermen at their work. The wreath-shaped "Totenbretter" (old form of bier; Kronenbretter, Totenkronen) displayed in the galleries are particularly rare. The Fischerkirche fishermen’s church has had a small organ since 1965. The church was fully restores in 1999/2000. Visit the oldest and most beautiful village church at Lake Schwielowsee.
