The museum of the Havelland Painters Colony documents the landscape of artists around Lake Schwielowsee and is dedicated to examining, documenting and making them known. The special features of the region - its landscape and architecture - are looked at in connection with the art. The whole Havelland landscape of artists invites you to explore all of the artists’ locations. The museum is in a reed-thatched “Kossätenhaus” (local peasant farmhouse) opposite the fisherman’s church in the historic village centre of Ferch.

The focus of the exhibition and the ever-expanding collection is on original artworks, graphics, drawings, sketches and so on by verifiable Havelland artists and their teachers. These objects represent the artistic stylistic directions, techniques and forms of expression of the painters. The core interest is in works created in Havelland or depicting Havelland motifs.

The reed-thatched “Kossätenhaus” is the only remaining peasant farmhouse in the village of Ferch and was probably built in the mid-18th century. It is a typical motif of the Havelland landscape and was also a popular motif for landscape painters. The building combines the areas of monument and museum on one place and attracts visitors interested in culture, the location and history as well as those interested in art.
