Local history is still alive at 'Heimathaus Caputh' at Krughof 28. It is one of the oldest buildings in the village centre of Caputh near the castle. It has been furnished almost entirely true to the original using loans and gifts from local residents. At the Local Heritage Museum, you can see historic objects from everyday life such as underwear, clothing, furniture, kitchen appliances and so on. In addition to this, the people who lived in Caputh in around 1900 are introduced using photographs and documents. Two original paintings by the painter Magnus Zeller are on display in the exhibition. In the back of the building, old craft tools and fruit farming tools can be seen. The yard and what used to be the summer kitchen are used for alternating exhibitions and events.
Dedicated members of the local history association share their knowledge with visitors, telling stories of Caputh from days gone by or revealing old recipes under the nut tree in the yard or in the “Guten Stube” over coffee and cake.
