Museum Barberini is the museum of fine art in Potsdam´s city centre, opened in 2017 and donated by its patron Hasso Plattner, one founder of the SAP SE. The Palais Barberini at the Old Market, which had been destroyed during an air raid in 1945, was rebuilt with a historic façade to house the museum.
The museum shows up to three exhibitions collected by international co-operations each year. It developed into one of the most frequently visited museums in Germany since 2017.
The exhibitions are accompanied by an extended programme of events and educational opportunities inviting all age groups to lively communicate about arts. Also the online programmes enter into the conversation on art: with changing programmes about its exhibitions the museum takes the pictures and the stories about the pictures into the digital world and opens new imaginative approaches to art.
