The extensive landscape park was laid out according to the plans of the famous landscape designer Lenné in 1838. It extends to the south of Lake Schwielowsee. The park is home to numerous historic buildings, including the Schinkelkirche Church, the Wash House, a fishing hut and the Old Forge with restaurant. The castle was built in 1825 by Carl Friedrich August Kaehne. From an architectural point of view, it is a blend of Italian castle and English Tudor style.

The poet and travel writer Theodor Fontane devoted a whole chapter to the town of Petzow in his "Walks through the Mark Brandenburg". He compared the place to Sanssouci in Potsdam.
